I will be playing a daughter in law on-screen for the first time: Mugdha Chaphekar

The cute looking and popular actress Mugdha Chaphekar, who rose to fame after playing Sanyogita in Star Plus' popular historical series Prithviraj Chauhan is all set to make a comeback to small screen with 24 Frames' much awaited show Satrangi Sasural on Zee TV.

Mugdha will be seen playing Arushi whose life post marriage is going to be very unique and challenging and she will be having the responsibility of her seven mothers in law on her shoulders. Mugdha is quite happy and excited about playing this character. TellyBuzz spoke to Mugdha to know more about her character, her show and much more.

Tell us something about your character.

I am playing Arushi who stays in Delhi. She belongs to a modest family and is very practical in life. She is very responsible and is the only earner in her family. She has the responsibility of her family on her shoulders. She is very mature but despite of being a Delhi girl, she is not bubbly but she is fun. She can make anyone smile. She is pleasant and has a sweet sense of humor. After her marriage with Vihaan, her life will take a new turn when she will have to look after his seven mother in laws.

Can you relate yourself to Arushi?

The characteristics of Arushi are similar to mine. Arushi is caring, responsible and she knows what she wants. She cannot hurt anyone and I love people and relationships. So, it's very easy for me to play Arushi.

What made you to opt for the show?

Its unique concept that there would be one daughter in law and she will be having seven mother in laws. I found it very special and challenging. It's very difficult to win anyone's heart and it would be more difficult if there would be seven mother in laws. I took this up as a challenge and I feel that this journey is going to be fun in Arushi's life and this is what attracted me. Secondly, the producer of the show, Bhairavi Raichura, Nandita Mehra, writer Purnendu ji are very renowned and working with them itself is an achievement. It's my first show with Zee which is one of the most popular channels. I am really looking forward to it. I am really enjoying and blessed to be a part of such a nice family.

How is Arushi going to handle her seven mothers in law?

Arushi is unaware of the fact that she is going to have seven mothers in law but Vihaan must have seen something special in Arushi that he has decided to be his life partner. Vihaan was looking for a girl who has the qualities of all his seven mothers in law and he must have seen all those qualities in Arushi and that's why he has chosen her and going to bring her at his home with full faith. Let's see whether she will live up to his expectations.

How is your off-screen bonding with Ravish?

It's awesome. He is a Rockstar and we have lots of fun on the sets. He is fun to be with and he is just like me so we enjoy a lot. He is a very good actor and more than that he is a very good human being. We really get along very well.

You have always played a very simple and sober characters. So don't you fear of playing typecast roles?

I feel opposite to it. I have played a Nakchadi Rajkumari, a Daaku with a golden heart, a very loving daughter, a naive NRI girl but I have never played a daughter in law. Every girl wants to be a daughter in law no matter what. Even she has a dream of her in laws place. So I liked it and its special for me that for the first time I am playing a bahu on-screen and in my very first show as a bahu, I will be having seven mother in laws. It's very special for me and it's a very different kind of role that I am doing who is working, practical and modern. I feel Arushi is very different.

You took a really long gap before bagging Satrangi Sasural. What were you busy with?

I also write and was busy writing. I have written two Marathi films in this time. I wanted to explore the world of writing. I have also done a Marathi movie which is coming next year. I was busy with all this and really enjoyed it. I am coming back to television after a long gap and I think Satrangi Sasural is a nice way to make a comeback.

So are you looking forward to get into production?  

Definitely there are! Not now because I am busy these days but I am planning to. Let's see what comes up to my way.

How has been the response so far?

The response has been nice and I have got good responses from India Forums as well. Fans are writing so many good things there and it feels good when people appreciate our work. Thank you all so much for such positive response.
