"I hope that I have done justice to her. I have tried my very best" - Sanjana Sanghi on 'Kadak Singh' role

It has been quite a ride for actor Sanjana Sanghi, especially in the last year-and-a-half when she had two releases in the form of Rashtra Kavach Om (2022) and Dhak Dhak, the latter being just two months ago in October 2023.

Now, in just a matter of two months, Sanghi has another release lined up next week in the form of Kadak Singh on Zee5. The actor stars alongside Pankaj Tripathi, where she plays his on-screen daughter. The trailer that released a few days ago and has managed to witness quite a splash instantly.

In an exclusive conversation, we asked Sanghi what drew her towards the role and script of the film and what made her say yes. 

To this, she answered, "I was drawn instantly to the film, and I say that is not likely. As actors, we are given a lot of material on a regular basis, and it's a well-known fact that all of us ultimately are looking for that script that makes us jump out of our seats and just be like, I cannot wait to get right into this world. I remember it was a Zoom call because I was shooting elsewhere, and I got onto a Zoom call with Ritesh, Tony Da, Viraf, and the rest of the team. As Ritesh began narrating Kadak Singh and Sakshi to me, I felt a desperate need to become Sakshi. It almost felt like she pulled me towards her. There was a certain pain that she was grappling with in her life, and there was a certain vulnerability and strength that she had. Those three coming together just felt so beautiful and potent, so that, as an actor and as an artist, it's what I crave to be able to do right and to be able to find so much meat in bringing a character to life where you can just dig deep and deeper to discover more about the character."

She added, "I hope that I have done justice to her. I have tried my very best. What I know from this journey is that I would have regretted it for the rest of my life if, for whatever reason, I had said no or if, for whatever reason, this wouldn't have happened. I have come out as a more evolved human being, a more empathetic human being, and a far more evolved actor. I can say that with confidence because I have had the chance to bat on the pitch with stalwarts like Pankaj Tripathi, Parvathy, and Jaya, and it's just been such an honour."

Kadak Singh is all set to release on Zee5 on December 8, 2023.
