The 'Desi Hoppers' triumphed over 40 countries and became the first ever Indian crew to win the 'World of Dance' championship in Los Angeles. After proving their mettle internationally, Nimit Kotian shares his experience being a part of Bindass' Naach.

Please elaborate on your stepping stone in this industry.

I have been dancing since I was a kid. However 2 years ago I participated in a dance reality show and came to the top 20 out of a big bunch of fifty thousand contestants. Post that I was approached by my two college buddies Shantanu Maheshwari and Macedon Dmello to choreograph for a youth based dance fiction show. My work was appreciated there and I was noticed by a few people in the industry. I also won the Best Choreographer Award at a renowned Telly award function.

My work and passion towards dancing has given me Bindass Naach and finally today I felt proud representing my country on a prestigious platform like World of Dance.

But what prompted you to take up this show?

'Dance' - the excitement struck there and then! However this excitement was taken to another level when Bindass and BBC Worldwide believed in our dream to represent our country at such a prestigious platform like the World of Dance. The fact that we had to start from the scratch, build our team, and train with them gave me a high.

How did you train the contestants?

We did not teaching them how to dance, but we trained them to adapt to our pattern of dancing because as a crew; synchronization was very important. So we all needed to match up equally with each other.

Any particular fitness or dance regime you under-went?

I am quite a fitness freak so along with our dance rehearsals, I did basic workout like running, jogging and push-ups.

You must have been very excited to be a part of this show and specially train other students under you...Please elaborate.

Definitely, for me Bindass Naach was more than a dream that my friends and I had been living together since college days. There was nothing more exciting than finally realizing your dream through a show and representing your country on an international platform like World of Dance. Dance is that one thing that keeps me inspired to do better every single time. It's my passion and there's nothing else I know apart from dancing. With regards to training the other crew members, the journey has been a blast till date.
