Avinash Wadhawan as Gajendra Pandey in Jatin Sethi, Mahesh Pandey and Piyush Gupta’s production, Aggar Tum Na Hote is getting a lot of attention. The actor is sporting a clean-shaven look for the role. And, it seems his new look is grabbing eyeballs too.
“People love the look. Earlier, in my previous shows I had a little beard, but in this show after a big gap, I have a different look. There is no moustache or specs, it is completely clean-shaven. Now people say that they can see the real Avinash Wadhawan and it is very easy for them to relate to my face and look in the movies that I had done earlier. Fans are overall liking my outfit and finding my look suave. Gajendra is a gentleman, businessman and power broker. He prefers to wear a tie in his house, even at the dining table. Whenever he goes out, he is particular about how he is dressed,” he says.
In real life too, the actor prefers clean-shaven. “It is easy to manage as it takes just two-three minutes to shave. If you keep a beard then you have to trim it and manage it. Also, I don't like to use those colour dyes to colour my beard as it is a very tedious thing to do so I feel a clean-shaven look is easy to manage,” he adds.
Avinash believes that the right look makes a difference to a character? “If you are playing a zamindar or a daku, businessman, doctor, middle-class man etc, what matters is how you dress up. Every person and professions have different looks. If someone is from Kolkata then he would be wearing a Bengali outfit, if someone is from South India he will sport a different look. If you are playing the role of a top-class businessman and wearing a pair of shorts and t-shirt then that wouldn't be relatable. The outfit in itself gives a character to the person,” says the actor, who takes about 5-10 minutes to get ready.
The make-up den of an actor is very important, what are the special must-haves for you? “Nothing much as I do very light makeup and prefer doing it on my own. There is no make-up man who comes to my room for my makeup. I just use a base matching my skin tone. After that, I apply some powder puff and dab it. The reason I do my makeup on my own is also that I don't want to shine much in front of the camera as it doesn't look nice,” he reveals.
