German actress based in India, Suzanne Bernert, known for her acting in TV shows like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, among others, feels Hindi is beautiful and has no struggle while learning.

She said, "It's no struggle in learning Hindi. It's beautiful and not very difficult with grammar like German and French. After shifting to India, I took tuition, and he taught me good basics. I remember making only a mistake that I didn't really grasp the importance of the distinction between similar pronunciation alphabets."

Suzanne recalls making her way into Hindi TV shows. She continued, "My love for Hindi started in Dubai, and I remember my first word was Pani (water). I'll always remember it was on the Set of Ajai Sinha's movie 'STOP'. I was sitting and listening to people communicating in Hindi all around me, and I got the feeling of learning it as it sounded familiar.

"After going back to Germany, I was practising all by myself, which finally helped me to get a TV show, 'Astitva...Ek Prem Kahani' and it was the first time I acted while speaking in Hindi," she added.

The actress revealed how her husband, actor Akhil Mishra, put his career on hold to help her learn shudh Hindi.

She shared, "All the characters that I played were Foreigners who needed an accent. Fluency suddenly became an issue with my show Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat, as I needed to be perfect, and my husband gave all his time and put his career on hold to help me on a daily basis to speak shudh Hindi."

She concluded by praising the Hindi language.

She mentioned, "I carry a huge respect and feel emotionally connected to this language, and I am still learning new things about it. I don't know any language that has so many words for Love, the same word for yesterday and tomorrow. And it is so forgiving if you butcher the grammar and words. People will still understand what you are trying to mean. Today, I feel comfortable while speaking in Hindi, and people appreciate me for the same."

September 14 is annually observed as 'Hindi Diwas' and is aimed at the promotion of the language.
