Star Plus' show Jhanak has been in the headlines way too many times for its problematic and regressive story line and this time around, the show continues its streak once again, after a video of the makers of the show using 'colour' on a new born child's back went viral.
In this video shared by Chandni Sharma on her Instagram stories, the actress can be seen showing the bts of Arshi's delivery sequence and how the crew preps up for the scene. It is in this video that a crew member can be seen holding a child by its head and applying red colour to its back to showcase 'blood.' As soon as this video went viral on the internet, netizens slammed the actress, the crew and the makers for holding a baby carelessly and colouring its back to top it all. Netizens went ahead to demand strict action against the makers of the show and called it 'extremely wrong' at all costs.
Slamming the show and the makers, one user wrote, ''Every day I wake up, I wake up to fact that this the worst show to be made and everyday it continues airing is an injustice done to common public!!! Starting from the worst writer to the worst crew and side casts who treats babies as “animals”..everything s plain wrong!'' ''How is this allowed to happen in any set? #Jhanak. Please take action @MIB_India @StarPlus @LeenaGanguli how insensible and irresponsible as usual!,'' added another user

After the widespread outrage, the makers of the show released another video on their Instagram handle and clarified that the baby used in the said video was not real but a 'silicone' one. ''The Magic of Life Unfolds… with a Silicon Baby!In Magic Moments’ Jhanak, technology meets storytelling in the most fascinating way! 🎬💫 Sometimes, silicon makes life simpler, bringing a whole new dimension to the narrative,'' the production house clarified.

''You can reshoot a scene with the same setting. We know. Reshooting in broad daylight with connivance to prove you originally used a silicon doll (when we gave you that benefit of doubt) to imply it is another angle! Clearly the baby size itself is different #Jhanak @MIB_India,'' one user shared. Another writes, ''Do they think we are fools? For God’s sake they can’t even act properly to reshoot with the so called Silicon baby. @StarPlus and @LeenaGanguli needs to be held responsible for such idiotic attempts for damage control.Grow up! Please take immediate action against this show #Jhanak.''

However, one thing what we truly believe is that the show has always been a problematic one and that the content urgently needs to be regulated, as the drop in the ratings indicate too.
