Today BollyCurry celebrates the birthday of a well-known film and TV actor, Adtiya Srivastava. Born on 21st July, 1968, Srivastava turns 45 today. Best known for his role of Senior Inspector Abhijeet in Sony TV's CID, Srivastava has also portrayed many important roles in several Bollywood movies including Satya, Gulaal, Paanch, Black Friday, Deewar (2004) and Dil Se.
While much may not be known about his personal life, his career on the other hand, speaks for itself. After studying at Allahabad University, Srivastava moved to Delhi in 1989 where he joined Sri Ram Center of Performing Arts and started acting in theatres. Shekhar Kapoor, the critically acclaimed Indian film director, producer and actor, gave Srivastava his first break in the award-winning Bandit Queen where he played the memorable role of Puttilal. 1995 saw the actor moving to Mumbai. There he played many minor episodic roles in Byomkesh Bakshi, as well as starring in many promos and ads. He also acted in an episode of Rishtey called Highway, which is now being made into a movie by the reputable Imitiaz Ali. In 1999, Srivastava was offered CID, which he took on and though the initial contact was termed for 26 episodes, it has now become a 14-year long journey.

In 2006, his first male lead movie, Dil Se Pooch Kidhar Jaana Hai, was released and though it failed to impress at the box office, critics applauded him for his performance. He then appeared in Kaalo as a parallel lead and this movie was much appreciated by both viewers and critics alike and he was applauded once again for his role of Sameer. Many of his films such as Dil Se,
Satya, Matrubhoomi, Black Friday and Gulaal, ran successful across the International Film Festivals Circuit and he became known both at home and abroad.
