Directed
by Sonam Nair and produced by Karan Johar, Gippi is a movie which revolves
around the problems adolescents face. It is a coming-of-age-story in which
actor RaQesh Vashisth plays a role of a hot Chemistry teacher.
"This cameo role was earlier offered to Ranbir Kapoor, but he couldn't make it due to his busy schedules. Therefore, Dharma Productions approached me with the same deal. I asked them why me? So they said that I have a screen presence and I fit perfectly in the character they were looking for", says Gippi's chemistry teacher- Raqesh Vashisth who had girls swooning over him in the film. So far, Gippi has roped in a lot of appreciation from the industry and the film and his role has successfully garnered a positive response.
On being asked about his experience, Raqesh says, "Working with the kids was a fantastic experience. The movie was shot in Shimla and I stayed there for almost a week. I used to hang around with the kids, go out with them for lunch and dinner. While I was conversing with them, I realized the kids today are far ahead of what we were in our times. I mean they are so encouraging and have knowledge about everything in this world, from technology to designer clothes, just everything! They actually want to make it big."
After having worked for Sony TV's Hongey Judaa Na Hum, Raqesh is now on a self-imposed break! The young actor who loves to paint, says that he would have loved to be a pilot if he had not been into the acting profession.
Raqesh also talks about his desire to seek good work. "'Being choosy' is not the phrase, though it stands a little correct when applied to me. For me, work is passion and I would love to work in an atmosphere where everybody has utmost dedication and high voltage energy."
The good thing is that Raqesh who was earlier seen in films like Tum Bin and Heroine says he is not inclined only towards Bollywood, "I am open to good offers whether films or television doesn't matter."
Ahh… we wish we could see more of this good looking actor on Indian television.
