Gauahar Khan Defends Ranbir Kapoor Amid Backlash Over Alia Bhatt Interaction

Actor Gauahar Khan has come out in support of Ranbir Kapoor, who recently faced criticism on social media for allegedly ignoring his wife, actor Alia Bhatt, during the Raj Kapoor Film Festival in Mumbai.

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, often in the public eye, have frequently been subjected to social media scrutiny. A section of users has labeled Ranbir as an "unsupportive husband" and a "misogynist," amplifying the backlash against him.

Gauahar’s Support for Ranbir

Gauahar, who co-starred with Ranbir in Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year, called the criticism "unfair." Taking to Instagram, she shared a Reel defending Ranbir, titled, "The Ranbir Kapoor they don’t post about."

The video, originally posted by a fan page, showcased Ranbir's caring gestures towards Alia Bhatt and his family. It included clips of Ranbir lending a helping hand to Randhir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan's father, and showing affectionate concern for Alia during the event.

Sharing the video, Gauahar wrote, "Seriously so unfair! I’m glad there are such posts that show how unfair certain posts are, that can unnecessarily put someone in a certain light. Ranbir is a gentleman!"

The original caption of the video read, “The side of Ranbir that social media doesn’t show, they cut a 2-sec clip out of context and run a whole lot of negative PR with it. Meanwhile, this is the reality. It’s crazy to me how easily people can be fooled.”

The video also received Alia Bhatt's subtle approval as she liked the post.

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have been under constant social media scrutiny. Recently, Ranbir was trolled after a video of Alia went viral, in which she mentioned that he had asked her to wipe off her lipstick. Social media users labeled him as "toxic" and "misogynistic."

Addressing the controversy, Ranbir’s sister, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, spoke to Zoom and dismissed the negativity surrounding the couple. She said, “They adore each other. They’ve created the most beautiful ever child, Raha. She is so so adorable. They are amazing parents. So, I don’t think they really care about what people say.”
