‘Friends or no friends, I do not..’: Moon Banerjee says she carries NO PERSONAL dynamics offscreen

Actress Moon Banerrjee, who has been part of shows like Chashme Baddoor, Abhimaan, Ghar Ek Mandir, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Muskaan, Sasural Simar Ka 2, and Doree, says that she wants to pick up challenging roles. She adds that she is not someone who likes to play similar roles on screen.

“I want to take up any character that challenges me to be out of my comfort zone. For example, working on the dialect or thinking about the role to do differently where I have think as an actor rather than doing it on an auto mode. I want to do something where I am able to surprise the audience is what I aspire to take up,” she says.

As an actor, one needs to work on the craft and reinvent oneself from time to time, she says, adding, “I have been working for more than 2 decades, I have not learnt acting via any school. My learning and journey as an actor have been through my work and the people that I worked with. So I try and keep polishing my craft by watching, observing and seeking. I try to continuously work on myself as an actor by constantly trying to improve mentally and physically else I get bored of myself very soon I need to surprise myself more than others.”

She adds that actors need to be more open and honest while acting. “It's very important as, an actor, to be without an ego, which can be a huge baggage and hindrance in getting in to the character. It also impacts your chemistry with your fellow co-actors, of course it's a very "to each his own" kind of funda. I try to see the bigger picture and focus on my character and performance. If I'm able to get along and have a great chemistry then that works as a bonus. But friends or no friends, when I'm playing a certain role I don't carry the personal dynamics with me. So it really doesn't matter. But yes, offscreen, the working environment definitely gets fun and interesting if I am working with my friends.”
