And finally Bollywood is to make a breakthrough in places it's never ventured before! Anil Sharma takes a definite new risk by making the first ever serious romantic movie on two Indian men being in love. And that is not the end of it. It has been confirmed that the movie will feature the first gay kiss in Bollywood. More so, it is already being labeled as India's Brokeback Mountain. For the uninitiated, Brokeback Mountain was the first American movie to bring serious gay themes to Hollywood.
Yes, you heard it right. Apparently, director Anil Sharma's brother, Kapil Sharma, will debut in the film as a young gay model who goes to Mumbai to fulfill his dreams and along the way finds love. Kapil also happens to be the writer of the movie. Though little else is known about the movie, the controversial posters showcasing two semi-nude men in a passionate embrace have given people much to talk about and more to anticipate.
Interestingly, the film has already been premiered in April 2010 at India's first mainstream gay film festival, the Kashish Mumbai International Queer Film Festival. The film also had its North American premiere at the I View Film Festival in New York and also will be screened at the Sydney Film Festival and the Indian Film Festival of London (IFFL). Dunno Y... Na Jaane Kyon
