Esha Deol is presently preparing for the unveiling of her forthcoming motion picture Tumko Meri Kasam, helmed by Vikram Bhatt and slated for discharge on March 21. She will be reappearing on the silver screen after a hiatus of 14 years. Recently, she divulged how her father Dharmendra compelled her to learn swimming through a strenuous method by hurling her into a tubewell at the tender age of 11.
In a recent interview with News 18, Esha Deol reminisced about a memorable childhood swimming lesson. At the age of 11, still unable to swim, she found herself unexpectedly learning the skill during a day at their farmhouse. Her father, Dharmendra, noticing her lack of proficiency, decided to take matters into his own hands - quite literally. Without any warning, he picked her up and tossed her straight into a tubewell.
He said, ‘Abhi tak swimming nahi seekha hai tune?’ (You still haven’t learnt swimming?). So I said, ‘Nahi papa (no, dad).’ (He) picked me up and threw me into the tubewell

Initially seized by panic, she grappled but soon realized she was buoyant. And just like that, she found herself propelling through the water for the first time. What commenced as an abrupt jolt transformed into a moment of elation, substantiating that occasionally the most unorthodox teachings leave the most enduring mark!
Esha also fondly recollected the mirthful aquatic escapades enjoyed by star offspring during the 1980s. She recounted how a hotel pool in Mumbai's Juhu locality would be teeming with familiar visages, Luv Sinha, Kush Sinha, Sonakshi Sinha, and sisters Sonam Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor. Growing up in the same epoch, they all partook in similar routines and pastimes, rendering those moments even more extraordinary.
After frolicking in the thronged pool, the merriment continued with post-swim indulgences like chilled coffee milkshakes and crunchy French fries.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Esha Deol is all set to make her grand return to the silver screen after a 14-year hiatus with Tumko Meri Kasam, a motion picture directed by Vikram Bhatt. The forthcoming dramatic work, loosely based on the life of Dr. Ajay Murdia, founder of Indira IVF, boasts a stellar ensemble cast including Adah Sharma, Anupam Kher, and Ishwak Singh. Marking her long-awaited comeback since Tell Me O Kkhuda in 2011, Esha's latest undertaking is poised for its theatrical premiere this Friday, March 21, 2025.
