Rajan Shahi, Producer of Kuch Toh Log Kahenge called me as he thought that I was apt for the role.
Did you observe doctors to prepare for Dr.Rangannath's role in Kuch Toh Log Kahenge?
I did observe doctors a little bit, however Dr.Rangannath is also the administrator of the hospital. I watched American hospital dramas like ER and Grey's Anatomy.
How longer before Dr.Rangannath and Anji have a baby?
They are just married and are in the process of family planning. They will have a baby once they are more financially settled.
Dr.Rangannath tells his wife to care for Dr.Nidhi, however advises her not to go out of her way as to neglect her own needs. If your wife was caring too much for a friend would you give her the same advice?
I don't think that is what Dr.Rangannath had told his wife exactly that. He has advised her not to overdo anything. She should care for her friend but in moderation. If she over-reacts she won't be able to solve anything to the best of her ability. I would tell my real wife the same.
Are you upset that of late the creatives haven't been dwelling all that much on Dr.Ravgannath and Anji's marital life?
Not at all. This is my first daily soap. Tracks are written on what is pertinent to the show by the creatives. Dr. Shuthosh's and Dr.Nidhi's relationship is being compared with Dr. Rangannath and Anji's relationship. The exploration here is how does a marriage with a great age difference compares to a marriage without much age difference.
You have seen foreign hospital dramas. How would you compare them to your show?
The foreign shows are suited for a foreign audience. Our show is very aptly tailor made for the Indian Hindi GEC audience. Both the foreign shows and our show have an ardent fan following.
What do you like more anchoring or acting?
I like 51% acting and 49% anchoring. In acting you are getting into the head of another person. Anchoring is an exaggerated extension of the self. Both anchoring and acting almost equally excite me. Do india-forums.com readers prefer me as actor/ anchor? Please put up a poll on this.
Which historical character would you like to play?
I'd like to play Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He was a man who was considered as God and royalty, yet he was so human. There are myriad shades to his character. I am intrigued on how he handled the India and Kashmir issue.
Sachin Tendulkar will surely go down in history. I am a sports person and look a lot like Sachin with my curly hair. I would surely like to play him.
Which role would you never do?
Never say never.
How is the fame of TV and films different?
TV has a far greater reach. People buy tickets and go to the cinema hall. TV beams right into your houses. The fan following of television shows is humongous. If you are both a TV and film actor you will have more fans.
