Actor Divyanka Tripathi has responded to online trolling after an awkward moment from Laughter Chefs 2 went viral. The incident involved Divyanka failing to recognise Elvish Yadav during the show’s introduction segment, which led to a wave of backlash from the YouTuber’s fans.
The moment unfolded on the set of the cooking reality series when Divyanka greeted Elvish with a handshake and said, “Hi Samarth,” confusing him with fellow contestant Samarth Jurel. The slip-up triggered laughter on stage from co-stars like Aly Goni and Krushna Abhishek, but what followed online was far from light-hearted.
Elvish’s fans took offence and flooded Divyanka’s social media with negative comments. The Yeh Hai Mohabbatein actor, who has largely stayed away from controversies, decided to address the issue publicly. On Monday, July 21, she posted a sharp message in the comment section of one of her Instagram posts.
“I want to thank genuine Elvish fans for being nice. True fans, first keep their idol’s respect in mind. Double thanks to the trollers for increasing my engagement,” she wrote. Her tone remained firm as she called out the use of abusive language. “My inner systumm automatically bounces back your foul language to you and your family. Karma! Those being nice shall always be blessed… says my core divinity!”

Divyanka had initially tried to downplay the on-set gaffe by requesting that the moment be edited out, sensing that it might attract online trolling. Her instincts were right. What was meant as a light moment turned into a reason for online hate.
Meanwhile, Elvish Yadav, no stranger to online scrutiny himself, addressed the pressures of fame in a recent interview. Speaking to Pinkvilla, he shared how controversies have started taking a toll on his mental space. “Sometimes I wonder, ‘Is being this famous a crime now? Did I do something wrong?’” he said. The clash between fan loyalty and celebrity missteps has once again raised questions about boundaries in online discourse.
