Rapper Fazilpuria targeted in roadside firing, authorities investigate motive and track assailants

Popular Haryanvi artist Fazilpuria, known for his energetic tracks and high-octane style, narrowly escaped a gunfire attack near Gurugram on July 14. Unidentified shooters reportedly opened fire at his vehicle while it was moving along the Southern Peripheral Road near Badshahpur. Fazilpuria, whose real name is Rahul Yadav, was inside the car at the time of the incident but was not injured.

Initial details suggest the attack was not random. Multiple rounds were fired, leading police to believe it was a targeted strike. Eyewitnesses say the assailants quickly fled the scene. So far, the motive behind the firing is unknown. An official investigation is in progress, and all angles are being examined, including the artist’s links to past controversies.

Fazilpuria hails from Fazilpur village, not far from the site of the attack. His breakout came in 2014 with Ladki Beautiful Kar Gayi Chull, later picked up by Dharma Productions for Kapoor & Sons. The song, featuring Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra, turned him into a household name. Since then, hits like Jimmy Choo, Party, and Millionaire have made him a mainstay in the Haryanvi and Punjabi music circuits.

While his music and flashy image—marked by luxury cars and bold styling—earned him a strong fan following, Fazilpuria has also made headlines for less celebratory reasons. He was reportedly linked to an investigation concerning the use of snake venom at parties, and his association with YouTuber Elvish Yadav has drawn public attention. Elvish too has faced scrutiny in similar matters.

Following the shooting, fans flooded social media with messages of support and concern. Many expressed shock over the incident and urged law enforcement to act swiftly. The police have yet to issue an official statement regarding suspects or leads, but the case has been prioritised.

As of now, Fazilpuria has not commented publicly, but sources close to the rapper confirm he is safe and cooperating with authorities in the ongoing probe.
