Disney Princesses have undoubtedly been the most beautiful on-screen animated characters throughout the years. Even today, Disney’s creations are still in the run and the 90’s kids had a fair share of fun to watch these epic sagas of prince and princess.
However, 2019 turns out to be the year of remakes as Hollywood has embarked on a journey to recreate the lost magic that the kids and even their parents have been waiting for! While, we already gazed upon the desert city of Agrabah in live-action, be prepared to take a dive in the sea as we are about to sneak into the world of mermaids.
Recently, Disney announced the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid (1989) and the princess with a new face has already been cast for this realistic voyage into the sea.
Singer-actress Halle Bailey, who is a part of the R&B (Rhythm and Blues) duo Chloe x Halle, has been cast as Ariel in Disney’s upcoming live-action reimagining of The Little Mermaid. Director Rob Marshall said in a Disney release that Bailey was the one to play the part following an extensive search.
He said, "It was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance — plus a glorious singing voice — all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role,"
The original 1989 animated film was directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, and Jodi Benson voiced the character of Ariel. Now, with the announcement of the film and after finding its lead, the fans can’t wait to see Halle trying to fit in Jodi’s shoes. The only question that bothers the fans is - Will Halle be able to hold the legacy Jodi has set?
