Dilip Kumar discharged from hospital, Health update shared by family friend

In a sign of relief, legendary Bollywood icon Dilip Kumar is now being discharged from the hospital after a week. Earlier this month, the veteran actor complained of breathlessness and was admitted at the suburban Khar-based Hinduja Hospital, a non-Covid-19 facility.

Dilip was diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion, build-up of excess fluid between the layers of the pleura outside the lungs and after receiving treatment for a week, he is now ready to go back home. A family friend confirmed the same via the actor’s official Twitter handle and also shared a health update. The tweet reads:

“With your love and affection, and your prayers, Dilip Saab is going home from the hospital. God's infinite mercy and kindness through Drs. Gokhale, Parkar, Dr. Arun Shah and the entire team at Hinduja Khar. --Faisal Farooqui. #DilipKumar #healthupdate.”

Earlier, Dilip Kumar was put on oxygen support, luckily he did not need a ventilator. On Wednesday, the 98-year-old actor underwent a successful pleural aspiration procedure. 

Kumar’s wife Saira Banu had also shared a picture with him from the hospital and also urged fans to not believe in any rumours after a death hoax went viral on the Internet.

In a career spanning five decades, Dilip Kumar has been a part of many iconic films like Mughal-e-Azam, Devdas, Naya Daur and Ram Aur Shyam. His last big screen appearance was the 1998 film Qila.
