Fatima Sana Shaikh, recognized for her role as Geeta Phogat in Dangal alongside Aamir Khan, became a household name. Despite the cast's dedication to their roles, few knew she was diagnosed with epilepsy during filming.

While chatting with Filmfare, Fatima Sana Shaikh revealed her epilepsy diagnosis during the Dangal shoot. Initially in denial, she hesitated to acknowledge the neurological disorder, avoiding medication due to fear of public episodes. "I was scared I might have an episode in front of people," she emphasized the stigma associated with epilepsy.

The actress known for her iconic moves further shared, "I would get seizures once or twice a week, and the anxiety before events was overwhelming." Discussing the condition, she noted that flashing lights can trigger epilepsy, though not always resulting in a seizure. Consequently, she grew fearful and eventually avoided events and screenings. However, she eventually chose to disclose her condition to the paparazzi, who respected and accommodated her needs. "Sometimes, my colleagues wouldn’t understand, but the paparazzi did," she expressed her appreciation for the media's understanding.

While talking to the publication, Fatima mentioned that there are days when she just can't shoot. Sometimes, her episodes lead to shoot cancellations, and there are days when her migraines are so intense that she can't work. She confessed that due to inconsistent medication use, she experienced more seizures. "I didn’t want to take medicines; I was fighting not just with people, but also with the medication itself. I thought I didn’t need them to live a normal life," the actress revealed.

On the professional front, Fatima Sana Shaikh's upcoming projects include Metro In Dino and Ul Jalool Ishq.
