Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde’s latest film, Deva, is slowly picking up at the box office. Directed by Malayalam filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews, this Hindi remake of Mumbai Police had a slow start but managed to maintain a steady pace over the weekend. According to reports from Sacnilk, Deva has collected approximately ?18.7 crore net in India within its first three days.
Deva’s Box Office Performance
On its opening day, Deva earned ?5.5 crore net, and on Saturday, it saw a 16.36% growth, collecting ?6.4 crore. The film's first Sunday added another ?6.8 crore, taking the total collection to ?18.7 crore. While these numbers are lower compared to Shahid Kapoor’s last release, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, the real test will be its performance in the upcoming weekdays. The film had an occupancy rate of 6.34% in morning shows, 16.32% in the afternoon, and 22.08% in the evening.
About Deva
Deva is an intense action thriller where Shahid Kapoor plays ACP Dev Ambre, an officer struggling with memory loss while investigating his best friend’s murder. Pooja Hegde plays Diya Sathaye, a journalist and his love interest. The film also features Pavail Gulati and Kubbra Sait in key roles. While Shahid’s performance has been praised, the film has received mixed responses from critics and audiences.
Before its release, Shahid addressed comparisons with Kabir Singh, saying, "It’s an aggressive character, but Deva is very Deva; there is no Kabir Singh in it."
Despite facing competition from Sky Force, the film’s earnings were not significantly affected. However, to sustain a strong theatrical run, Deva will need to hold well in the coming days.
