Celebrity couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh enthralled the audience with their enchanting chemistry in not one, but three Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s blockbusters: Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastaani, and Padmaavat.
The duo will soon be seen in Kabir Khan’s sports biopic, ‘83, which will be their first film together after marriage. Based on the life of veteran cricketer Kapil Dev, the film stars Ranveer Singh in the titular role, and Deepika plays his on-screen wife, Romi Dev in the film.
While the audience loves watching Deepika-Ranveer on the big screen, there were reports that DP has rejected three films back to back with Ranveer to avoid overexposure of the two as a couple.
However, in a recent chat with Bombay Times, Deepika rubbished all such reports and shared that Ranveer and she would want to be a part of a film that needs them together. She revealed that nothing like this has been offered to her and she would love to explore a lighter space with Ranveer on the big screen.
“There is no truth to that at all. We would rather think whether a film warrants the two of us to come together. Again, that’s not a decision for us to make, it’s for the director to decide. We have not been offered anything like that together, though it was refreshing to work with him in ‘83 after having worked in three films, where we die in the end! I hope we get to do more films, maybe something more contemporary and lighter. It’ll be nice for someone to explore our on-screen combination in a different way from what everyone has seen so far” Deepika cleared the air, denying all such reports.
Meanwhile, Deepika is gearing up for Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak, which is slated to release on January 10, 2020. Post which, she will be seen alongside Ranveer in ‘83, that hits the theatres on 10 April 2020.
