Is it true that art imitates life, or that life imitates art? Dasvi, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Yami Gautam will keep us wondering! The film has earned widespread acclaim, with many complimenting the uplifting narrative of a corrupt politician who falls in love with education while in prison and eventually passes the 10th grade.
But the Dasvi craze doesn't seem to stop yet! This inspirational story appears to have left a lasting impression on a few particular admirers. Tushar Jalota's directorial debut was shot on-site in Agra Central Jail, and the film was also shown to convicts there.
Some convicts took the movie's message to heart and were determined to get back on their feet and embrace the miracle of education. Twelve of them have now passed the boards with flying colours . While nine of the inmates completed the 10th-grade exam, just three passed the intermediate 12th-grade exam.
Abhishek Bachchan has complimented this wonderful achievement saying,
“It feels wonderful when you see the positive effect a film you’ve been a part of make in real life. Credit has to go to the students and to my director, Tushar. His belief in the film and the story he wanted to tell. This news is bigger than any award or accolade we as a team could have received”.
While some latest updates indicate that not only Agra, but 163 convicts across Uttar Pradesh passed the board. The film was produced by Jio Studios and Maddock Films which appears to be performing miracles even months after its premiere.
