Darshan's disappointment over decision gone wrong

It's a sad but real fact that Zee TV and Drishtant Media's Aap Ki Antara is on a downhill ride. The TRPs have slowly reduced after the leap. We spoke to the actor Darshan Pandya who plays Aditya to figure out the reason for the show's declining popularity.

Darshan it seems has been pondering over the issue way before we questioned him. He says, "First of all the timing got changed from 8.30 PM to 10.30 PM. The whole audience segment changes with such a drastic change in time. Secondly, people used to watch the show with their children, which does not happen much now. Reason being, children go to bed early as well as the fact that the child star cast of Aap Ki Antara has been replaced with a tween cast."

Darshan elaborates, "A new audience always requires more time to accept you. Plus even the late night audience had some idea of AapKi Antara with the old cast and not the new one. The time change along with the leap, completely shook the ground of the show."

As an afterthought Darshan adds, "I feel the leap should have happened without the change in timing, this way the older audience would have gotten a chance to grow on the flavor of the new cast."

In spite of disappointment, Darshan justifies the decision of time change. He says, "We always felt that the decision taken by the channel and production house is right. But this time it turned out to be wrong. It's disappointing. But mistakes happen and this decision turned out to be one. However, the team is making efforts to improve the TRP's with an interesting storyline."

The buzz is that the further track will show Vidya putting out all her efforts to get Antara admitted back in the school. She will go on a hunger strike in front of the school gates and this will eventually make the authorities take in Antara.

We too really hope that the ratings improve, as Aap Ki Antara is a path breaker on television!!

surely Zee made a mistake by shifting antara for such stupid show Yeh main...this shud have been named swarnbhawan..becoz ithe show is all abt swarnbhawan n all crap...wht a waste of time n effort!!
Zee please bring back AKA @8.30 n shift tht stupid show @10.30

Guys, the type of audience of aapki antara consists of mainly job-going people n kids who generally sleep by 10:30 p.m
The show is still better than many stupid shows.
Further as far as trps are concerned, then any show can generate 2+ trps at 8:30 p.m n not only stupid "yahan main" coz that is the peak time when people r glued 2 tv.

I still cant understand why a horrible show like Chhoti Bahu gets high TRPs, its copied from Vivah and Aaina and the slowest serial ever made. And why Antara's TRPs are sinking? Viewers have rotten choice. They dont like to watch reality and hard truths, instead love to see stupid weddings which last for 3 months! DISGUSTING!

Zee did commit a mistake by shifting such a show in late night slot. As such the theme was different hence it needed the push of prime time viewing, but no it was shifted to late night slot where the shaadi-rona dhona sagas could still do well. The poorly developed story track and weird twists are also responsible for lack of viewer interest.

Definitely the leap has to be a factor in all this but how long can they show Antra in one age group? It's natural that she is going to grow up, na. Hopefully the story line helps the show regain their lost TRPs...maybe they can change the time slot again ... at least to 9:00 or 9:30 It's a good show with a good message...Will feel horrible if it looses popularity

yes leap is the main cause of reducing trps.bt i think prabhleen sandhu is playing a major role in increasing the popularity of the show nd also d chemistry between young antara nd her was very heart touching
