Now with acting will your dancing take a back seat?
It will never take a backseat Binny Sharma is known for her dancing so it will always go on.
So will we see some of your dancing too in the show?
I had first connected with the audience as a dancer so we will try to incorporate some of my dancing talent in the show.
Tell us something about your character?
I'm enacting the character of a very strong, genuine, confident and mature girl named Gauri. She has lot of difficulties and responsibilities in her life and yet she never shows that pain on her face and always remains happy.
You had recently been at the finale of Dance India Dance so how did you feel?
Yes, the feeling was amazing and actually I had auditioned for this show when I was competing in Dance India Dance and I even had got a confirmation but then I didn't want to shift my focus from dancing and once the finale was done my entire focus got shifted to this serial. So I'm very excited.
Why did you choose acting over your dancing talent?
Firstly because the role was very challenging and I could relate to the character of Gauri very well. Personally I'm also a strong girl and never like crying so throughout my journey in the show everyone has made me stronger. My expressive dancing style and the ability to get into the character well just drew in many offers from different channels and even for movies.
So did you accept the offer because you got opportunities or you were always interested in acting?
See, dancing was always my priority but I didn't mind getting into acting if I received some good offers. And during Dance India Dance journey I realized that I have acting talent somewhere hidden within me but I never thought that I would get such a big break. So now it's like a challenge to me and I'm seriously working towards it.
So how nervous were you during the first day of shoot?
Obviously I was very nervous to face the camera for the very first day in front of the entire crew and cast but now I'm very much confident about the same.
So how determined were you about making your career in dancing before this serial?
When I got rejected in the auditions of Dance India Dance season 1 the entire following one year I was into complete aggression and put in lot of effort and was determined to reach the finale of next season so my dancing has opened a new way for me in acting. So dancing and acting go hand and hand for me.
Tell us something about yourself?
I'm basically a Punjabi girl and we are three sisters and I'm the youngest one. My mother is a housewife and my father work in a textile industry. They have always been very supportive to me, my sisters are my best friends and I have the sweetest family.
How was your parent's reaction?
They are very happy my mother is a bit shy but dad was very bold and always wanted me to work towards my dreams. So since childhood I was very much into plays and dance and during that time also I had got an opportunity for Cerelac advertisement but my mother refused.
So, now they are happy that I have achieved my dreams on my personal hard work.
Tell us something about the experience with your co-actors.
The experience has been amazing and they all are very brilliant actors. So I have a lot to learn from them.
Any other plans on the chart?
Yes it's my dream to start a dance school of my own and I will surely do that one day. After Dance India Dance I even got many offers for international workshops but due to this serial I couldn't take it but even now I make it a point that I dance at least once a day.
