'Chhatriwali' starring Rakul Preet Singh & Sumeet Vyas to release digitally on ZEE5

The slice-of-life drama "Chhatriwali," starring actors Rakul Preet Singh and Sumeet Vyas, will be released direct-to-digital on ZEE5 next year. Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar is helming the film which is backed by Ronnie Screwvala. The movie "Chhatriwali" aims to convey a big societal statement about how important safe sex and male contraception are.

Rakul plays the part of the quality control manager of a condom manufacturer in the Haryana-set movie.Though she is shy and embarrassed about her job initially, she soon realises the importance of safe sex and then takes it upon herself to destigmatise the conversation around sex education,” the logline reads.

On the occasion of World Aids Day, the film's creators announced its digital distribution. Rakul claimed that "Chhatriwali" is unique since it is a fun movie with an important social message.

In a statement, the actor stated, "On this World Aids Day, I join the fight against HIV by promoting the use of male contraceptives and the value of safe sex with my next film, Chhatriwali.

Screwvala said he and his team at RSVP Movies are happy to back strong female-led stories.

“We are happy to back strong female led storieswith a meaningful narrative and Chhatriwali is just that. Without sounding too preachy, we have made a mass family entertainer laced with an important message because the idea is to normalize conversations about sex education and safe sex,” he said.

Rakul Preet singh was last seen in the film Doctor G and Thank God. She was hailed for her performances and now fans are excited to watch her in 'Chhattriwali'.
