Last week saw the much-awaited trailer of Spiderman spin-off, Morbius coming in starring Jared Leto in the titular role.

The Marvel and Sony film created waves with the trailer but apart from Leto, it saw several other names in the footage and one of them was that of Jared Harris, who was last seen in HBO's mega success, Chernobyl.

Fans speculated that Harris is playing the iconic role of Dr. Octopus, another genius in the Spider-verse. The engineer-turned-villain is best known by the giant mechanical arms attached to his torso that he controls telepathically.

However, Harris has cleared the air that he isn't playing Doc Ock.  When asked at the recently held SAG Awards by Variety, he answered, “No,” Harris said. “I love the imagination that the fans have, it’s exciting for me to think about the imagination that that fans have. But yeah no, it’s not.”

Despite online whispers and fan wishes it would seem that Harris is not the classic Spidey villain, however that doesn’t rule out the plethora of additional characters with superpowers living in New York City.

As for the film itself, Harris was excited to see the final look on the trailer, “That part is always a surprise, and that’s always impressive,” he remarked, but was tight-lipped on any other details.

So what is Harris playing after all? We will have to wait and see.
