Cannes 2022: Hina Khan 'disheartened' on not being invited to the opening ceremony at India pavilion
In a recent interview, she expressed her disappointment on not being invited to the opening ceremony at Cannes 2022 India pavilion.

Television star Hina Khan has always been one to speak her mind and well, this time is no different either. She has always been upfront with what she feels, and this time around, in an interview, she expressed her disappointment on not being invited to the opening ceremony at Cannes 2022 India pavilion.
She told Anupama Chopra,
"You know we all belong to the same industry. We are from the entertainment business. We all have come here to represent India. And I am very excited for the launch of the poster of my film. They know I'll be coming to the India Pavilion. I will be launching the poster of my film. I was very excited then came the news of...Before that I'd like to tell you there's this elitist system, elitist game which still exists. There's the opening ceremony that happened in the Indian Pavilion. Everyone was there..all the talents, my contemporaries, not just from Bollywood, we had singers, we had many well-known talents. It's not that I envy them. I am so proud of them. But at the same time it was disheartening that I was not there."
She added,
"I could have been in the audience at least cheering up for them when they were doing the ghoomar. I felt so proud of my country. I don't blame the actors or celebs but it's the people on the field who make it possible. I don't want to blame my contemporaries. We all talk about women empowerment, equality but I think it's easier said than done. Probably next year when I come to Cannes, I will be a part of it."
Hina also spoke about how things have changed and it is still tough to create your own place. She added how sometimes one might not be allowed to enter a certain space, and hence, they have to create their own seat at the table. She added how she is often told 'she is a television star' and not that she is an actor from Indian. However, she mentioned how she is happy with her journey.
Meanwhile, she walked the red carpet at Cannes 2022 in what was an absolutely beautiful look in her lilac gown adorned with feathers.

She was just an oversight...why did she not have her manager or whoever runs her errands to go and request an invite...the other people there who got the spotlight will now be seen as "elitist" when they probably have nothing to do with organizing...they just show up...

Copying another member's response here and I agree As much as I like Hina, it seems like she is trying to achieve the wave of sympathy she got last time, it was genuine then and absolutely bogus now.She said she is there to reveal some poster, anyone can go to the city of Cannes and reveal poster in any corner of the city but that doesn't make her an official entry for the Cannes film festival, There's no such thing as a "Poster reveal" in the film festival.Don't think her movie is screening there as the list is available one can easily check and she is not associated with any brand, that's why her earlier pictures were from random places, she was invited in Cannes for screening of her movie last time but this time she just went there on her own...For her to be invited, the people in the team had to know her, since she wasn't in the list of official invitees, it is understandable that they didnt know she was there.
