Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's nearly decade-long divorce battle has officially come to a close. The former couple finalised their divorce paperwork on Monday, December 30, following years of bitter legal disputes, including allegations of physical assault and a contentious fight over their French winery, Château Miraval.

According to insiders, Pitt’s current girlfriend, 31-year-old jewelry designer Ines de Ramon, played a pivotal role in urging him to end the prolonged legal feud. “He was influenced by Ines to finally settle,” an insider told PageSix. “She has made [it known that] her opinion is that life would be much more enjoyable with this settled.”

De Ramon, who began dating Pitt in late 2022, reportedly hopes for a future with him, possibly including children. “Ines wants to have a life together — possibly with children in the future,” a source shared, emphasizing that she viewed resolving the divorce as a crucial step toward building a peaceful life.

While Pitt and Jolie were declared legally single in 2019, the divorce proceedings dragged on for years, marked by a “horrendous time” for Jolie and her family, according to a source who spoke to People. “These last eight years have been such a horrendous time for her and her family,” the insider said.

Another source alleged that Pitt used his influence to “retaliate against Angelina for leaving him” and painted her as the primary obstacle in his strained relationship with their children. Despite the legal conclusion, disputes over the ownership of Château Miraval remain unresolved in court.

Jolie, who first met Pitt on the set of their 2005 film Mr. & Mrs. Smith, expressed relief after the divorce finalisation. A source close to the actress told People that she hopes this will allow Pitt to “stop his attacks on her” and focus on healing their fractured family.

Meanwhile, Pitt and de Ramon have publicly showcased their relationship, including an appearance at the 2024 Venice Film Festival. A source previously told PageSix that de Ramon’s unwavering support and her ability to remain unfazed by the public scrutiny surrounding Pitt have had a positive impact on him.

Following their separation, reports suggest that some of Jolie and Pitt's children have adjusted their surnames, with Vivienne, Shiloh, and Zahara reportedly removing "Pitt" from their legal names. Maddox and Pax are believed to have limited contact with their father, while Knox and Vivienne maintain occasional communication.

A source close to the situation summed up de Ramon’s influence on Pitt, saying, “She has a really good perspective on things. It’s sad how this whole thing has played out, but at least this is progress in the right direction.”
