&TV's latest offering Badho Bahu is a unique one. It has the look and feel of Dum Lagake Haisha meets Sultan', which would obviously make for a good concept.

Lovingly called Badho (meaning too much' in Haryanvi), Komal played by Rytasha Rathore is a kind hearted, fun loving girl who expects to lead a happy married life with a loving husband and in-laws.

But as fate would have it, her groom ditches her at the altar and she is forced to get married to Lucky Singh Ahlawat, played by Prince Narula. Lucky is now tied up to a life partner, who is just opposite to him in all ways possible.

Badho Bahu indirectly deals with the issue of how fat people are perceived in the society. It deals with borderline body shaming. When we asked both the leads about the same, here's what they had to say to us-

"Body Shaming is a very real problem in the world currently. Men, women, children, irrespective of whether you are fat or skinny, everyone has some or the other body issues. Ultimately, it's very important that we drive this point home that 'everybody is beautiful'. You need to find it within yourself to love yourself. I used to struggle during my school days but after I started going to college, I accepted myself and now I love myself. And that's all that matters," said Rytasha.

Prince said, "If people assume that one looks good if he/she is fat or thin, that is one big misconception. One must see that talent in people and not their outer physical appearance if the person is fat or thin. It all depends on the way you look at people. I feel pity on people who say stuff like,'Hey look, there is a fat lady going'."

On a concluding note, Prince also added, "The day people stop judging others on their physical appearance, the world will become a better place to live in."

Badho Bahu premiers on &TV from the 12th of September.

The show has a unique concept no doubt.

Body Shaming is a terrible thing. But, I only wish the aam aadmi would wake up to the concept of "fitness" in our country. By "fitness", I don't mean developing sixpacks and washboard abs - all that is Bollywood's domain.

What I'm saying is that while body shaming is a bad thing, why do we use the excuse of "inner beauty" to not improve our overall health? Sure, looks aren't everything. But what's the use of citing "inner beauty" if you suddenly develop heart ailments and everything else - all because of your laziness and being "too satisfied" with your body to the extent of ignoring your own health?

While body shaming is bad, I only wish the aam aadmi in the country would work on their fitness purely for health reasons, if not anything else.

"Inner beauty" doesn't just mean that a person's true worth lies beyond their looks. Sure, you may be comfortable in your own skin and the way you look (which only means that you possess immense self-confidence - a very good thing!). But what about ailments like heart disease, diabetes, etc.? Will you be able to keep all those illnesses at bay by simply stating - "Inner beauty is what matters so I won't lose weight"?

Like I said, this show has a good concept. But I only wish this show would also send a message that one's body weight should be approached with a mindset of mantaining good health rather than based on looks.

It is entirely wrong to say "fat is ugly, thin is beautiful". But, why can't people see it from the perspective of "excess body weight affects health hence losing that extra weight is essential" rather than associating body weight with physical appearance alone?

What I'm basically stating is - If you go to a doctor for a health check-up and you are asked to lose weight, will you accuse the doctor of "body shaming" you? So, why can't body weight be associated with "health"?edited...
