KWK8: Arjun Kapoor addresses the trolls for age-shaming his and Malaika Arora's relationship

In the latest episode of Koffee With Karan Season 8, which premiered on Disney+ Hotstar, Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor opened up about facing relentless trolling regarding his relationship with Malaika Arora.

Arjun Kapoor, who was joined by Aditya Roy Kapur on the KWK couch, candidly discussed the constant scrutiny he faces due to his relationship with Malaika Arora, who was previously married to Arbaaz Khan and shares a son with him.  When Karan Johar asked Arjun if the negativity and age-shaming affected his relationship, the actor responded with a thoughtful insight. "What is important to understand is that you will be affected. There is no person that is not being affected; it is about dealing with it," Arjun remarked. 

He went on to reflect on the nature of online trolls, stating, "It also shows their (trolls') upbringing and their culture. Those people that are putting up random comments, you also know that they are trying to get your attention." Then I realized that I have to allow it to sink in, to understand what the reason is why these desperate people are trying to get my attention, and try to detach myself from their reaction," he explained.

The conversation took a broader turn when Karan Johar shared his own experiences of being 'sexuality shamed' regularly. He revealed that not only he but also his mother, Hiroo Johar, faces trolling for his decision to become a single parent.

Arjun Kapoor added a poignant note, highlighting the paradoxical behavior of trolls. "These are the same people that will take a selfie with you. When they see you at a shoot, these are the same people that are also dying to take selfies and photos with you. These are the same people, unfortunately."

Arjun Kapoor and Malaika Arora went public with their relationship in 2019, and their story continues to be a subject of interest for fans and trolls alike.
