Two explosions occurred early this morning (November 26) outside a nightclub in Sector 26, Chandigarh, causing minimal property damage. The blasts, which took place between 2:30 am and 2:45 am, were carried out using low-intensity devices thrown by two individuals riding a motorcycle.

In a Facebook post, members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara, claimed responsibility for the explosions. According to the post, the gang targeted De'orra restaurant and Sevillee bar and lounge, both of which are owned by rapper Badshah. The post also stated that the restaurant owners had been contacted via phone for an extortion demand but had failed to respond.

Though the authenticity of the claim has not yet been confirmed, police have launched an investigation into the incident. No casualties were reported, but the explosions caused damage to several window panes and inflicted minor structural harm. A nearby club also sustained slight damage.

Chandigarh police confirmed that the low-intensity blasts occurred outside De'orra, which is located near Sevillee bar and lounge, with the two venues only about 30 meters apart. Following the incident, authorities responded quickly, launching an investigation and calling in the bomb detection squad and the Chandigarh Forensic Science Laboratory to gather evidence.

In a report by India Today, it has been claimed that the explosive device may have been a homemade bomb, possibly intended as part of an extortion attempt. However, the exact nature of the device has yet to be officially confirmed by the police, and investigations are still ongoing.

The blasts near Badshah’s Sevillee Lounge in Chandigarh have raised concerns about security, especially with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city scheduled for December 3.

For context, Goldy Brar has previously claimed responsibility for the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, who was killed on May 29, 2022. Brar was designated a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act by the central government on January 1.
