Beauty and the Beast to be launched in the New Year

Beauty and the Beast, the evergreen fairy tale which comes with the moral that we shouldn't judge a person by his looks, is now being made into an Indian TV series which will be produced by Shashi Sumeet Productions (if sources are to be believed). According to earlier news reports the plot revolves around a not-so-good looking radio jockey who falls in love with a beautiful girl. 

If this is truly the plot, then it will be nice to have a story with a male lead for a change. Also as TV heroes are almost always handsome hunks, it will be a refreshing change to have a hero whose isn't conventionally handsome but has other qualities which will awe the viewers. Maybe we will see the male version of Jassi (Ugly Betty) in this show.

Our source told us that this show is to be launched in January on Sony TV. The set we hear will have real gold incorporated in certain places. Nowadays TV serials have lavish sets- if our source's reports are true this set will be one all will envy as it will surely stand out. Surely there has to be high security to ensure that there is no burglary on the sets. 

We called Shashi Mittal to confirm the news. However she said, "I can't talk about this right now." As she wishes to be tight-lipped we may just wait and watch.
