In many households, the role of a homemaker often remains underappreciated. Her relentless efforts to save, manage, and nurture are seamlessly integrated into the family's daily routine, yet they seldom receive the recognition given to a breadwinner's contributions. This is the essence of Zee TV's new offering, Bas Itna Sa Khwaab, which explores the journey of Avani Trivedi, a dedicated housewife from Kanpur. Avani's life is a tapestry of small sacrifices and unwavering commitment to her family's welfare. Every rupee she saves and every responsibility she shoulders is her way of inching closer to the shared family dream of purchasing a bigger home they can proudly call their own. Yet, despite her selfless dedication, her contributions are often overlooked and taken for granted.
The show has already generated buzz with the announcement that renowned actors Rajshree Thakur and Yogendra Vikram Singh will portray the lead roles of Avani and Shikhar, respectively. Adding to the drama is the talented Bhumika Gurung, who will essay the role of Shagun, Shikhar's sister. Shagun, a woman grappling with the bitterness of a failed marriage, lives with Avani and Shikhar and brings a wave of tension into their lives. With an unapologetically grey personality, Shagun actively conspires and manipulates her brother against Avani, adding layers of complexity to the narrative.
Speaking about her role, Bhumika Gurung shared, "I believe Shagun is a character full of complexity and intrigue, driven by jealousy and bitterness towards those she feels wronged her. She's manipulative, cunning, and doesn't shy away from using others to get what she wants. For me, playing such a negative role is a thrilling and new experience. Having always portrayed positive characters in the past, this is the first time I am stepping into the shoes of an antagonist. I am absolutely loving the challenge and the opportunity to explore such a layered character. I am looking forward to the audience's reactions."
Through Avani's inspiring story, Bas Itna Sa Khwaab delivers a compelling message: that housewives who skillfully manage countless responsibilities within the confines of their homes are equally capable of stepping into the larger world and making significant contributions. As the narrative unfolds, viewers are reminded that a woman who can expertly run a household can also lead it to prosperity—"Jo ghar sambhaal sakti hai, woh ghar chala bhi sakti hai."
But with Shagun's scheming presence, will Avani be able to succeed in her journey beyond the four walls of her home?
