YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani has finally addressed the backlash and misogynistic trolling that erupted after a promotional post for his upcoming music video Chandaniya with actress Elli AvrRam. The controversy began when Ashish shared a photo where he held Elli in his arms, captioned “Finally,” leading fans to believe they were a couple. The post quickly went viral.
Later, it became clear that the picture was a teaser for their music video. But what began as a marketing gimmick took a dark turn, as several users targeted Elli with disturbing and misogynistic remarks. The trolling ranged from personal attacks on her character to comments about her so-called “body count,” a term frequently used online to shame women.
As the trolling escalated, Ashish remained silent for days, which led to widespread criticism. Many felt he should have spoken up sooner, especially since the viral post had come from his account. A user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “Bhai seriously bol rha hu ekdum shit song tha and iske liye tune prank kiya and tere fans ne is bandi ka character assassination kiya and tu chup hai,” directly calling out Ashish for his silence.

On July 20, Ashish broke his silence. He posted on social media:
“I wanna clear something before you all. Make no mistake. Those ‘people’ in my comments are not my audience/fans or followers. Half of them don’t even follow me. It’s a free platform and an open tweet, and all the disgusting things they said will never be supported or encouraged by me or my fans.”
He added, “My subs are not like this — anyone who has been closely following me for a decade knows what I preach in my fandom. Rest assured, it’s pathetic what happened and I’ll be addressing it soon.”
Despite this, the post was deleted within hours. However, screenshots of his message spread widely, reigniting conversations around gendered hate and creator accountability.
Elli did not respond directly to the trolls but indirectly addressed the situation. On Instagram Stories, she shared a DM that read, “Your s*xiest body part is your mind,” and captioned it with “True story.”
Many users came forward in support of Elli, criticising the online hate and urging public figures like Ashish to take stronger stands when collaborators face such abuse.
