Anupamaa's Manish Goel expresses desire to have 'MALE CENTRIC TV SHOWS': 'Happy with my role but..'

Manish Goel, who has now entered Star Plus' Anupamaa and is paired opposite Rupali Ganguly in the show, recently opened up on his desire to have 'male centric' TV shows in the Hindi television industry.

Speaking to Bombay Times about the same, the Anupamaa fame states that times have now changed and that women are no longer shown as 'bahus' and 'housewives.' ''Women are no longer just portrayed as bahus or bhabhis. They're taking on diverse roles - whether it's an astronaut or a chef - standing strong and fighting for others. This is a significant shift, showcasing women as strong, empowering figures," says Goel.

He further opens up on his character in Anupamaa and expresses his desire to have 'male centric shows' in television too. The actor says, ''I'm happy with my role in Anupamaa, but why can't we have male-centric shows, too? If the storyline is gripping and filled with exciting twists, it could work just as well. Television, and all media today, is driven by great writing, and content truly is king.''

The actor also opened up on TV shows being 'axed' in a few months these days and believes that shows should be given atleast six months. He says, ''I'm happy with my role in Anupamaa, but why can't we have male-centric shows, too? If the storyline is gripping and filled with exciting twists, it could work just as well. Television, and all media today, is driven by great writing, and content truly is king.''

For the uninformed, Manish recently entered Anupamaa and reports suggested that the actor has stepped in the shoes of Gaurav Khanna post his exit from the show. The actor, opening up on replacing Gaurav in the show earlier had spoken about all the comparisons with the actor. ''I love competition. I don't mind being compared to Vanraj, Anupamaa, or Anuj. I want to create my own identity in the show. After Anuj or Vanraj, I want the audience to look forward to my character and even miss me when I'm not there—even if it's just for an episode or a scene. Expectations are high, and I will do my best to meet them,'' Manish, in an exclusive chat earlier told us.
