Anshula Kapoor, who recently participated in the Indian reality series The Traitors, revealed in a conversation with The Quint that her time on the show took a serious toll on her mental health. Following her elimination, Kapoor disclosed that she was diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), a condition she had never experienced before.
“Living without communication with the outside world for the entire duration of the show was extremely difficult,” she said and called the experience extremely “stressful” and “traumatising.” Kapoor explained that although she expected a competitive atmosphere, the intensity of isolation and surveillance surpassed anything she had anticipated.
She recalled that the conditions inside the show were tightly controlled. “There were no intercoms in our room. They had blacked out our room numbers, so we didn’t know our own or anyone else’s room number. They had placed wind chimes outside our room doors, and if you opened the door when you weren’t supposed to, someone would come and tell you not to leave your room,” she shared.

While she had no issue with the long shooting hours, she felt the restrictive and isolated environment became suffocating.
After the shoot wrapped and she returned home, she realised the psychological impact was more serious than she thought. “I had to go back into intensive therapy after the show, and I was diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder,” she revealed, clarifying that she had never been diagnosed with PTSD prior to participating in the series.

The Traitors, which premiered on June 12, 2025, brings together 20 well-known personalities in a game of trust and betrayal, hosted by Karan Johar. Contestants are cut off from the outside world, with limited movement and communication, all while navigating strategic eliminations and intense group dynamics.
Anshula Kapoor’s disclosure sheds light on the mental health challenges reality television participants can face, especially in high-pressure, controlled environments.
