Amitabh Bachchan faces protest from Aarey Activists outside Jalsa

The decision of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's tree Authority to cut down a huge number of 27,000 trees in the Aarey forest, for the construction of Metro has caused a plight among the residents of the city and even amongst non-Mumbaikars as well. Many celebrities of the B town have shared their opinions on the same subject through comments and remarks on their social media. Similarly, yesterday Amitabh Bachchan posted a tweet supporting the Mumbai Metro plan but received massive flak in return.

"Friend of mine had a medical emergency, decided to take metro instead of his car .. came back very impressed .. said was faster, convenient and most efficient .. Solution for Pollution ...Grow more trees .. I did in my garden .. have you." (sic)”, Bachchan had tweeted in favor of the Metro. 

But, the superstar’s post did not go down well with Aarey activists, who have decided to stand in protest outside Senior Bachchan’s house Jalsa with boards and banners in their hand. The protesters were questioned by the security guards, reported India Today and quoted, “The security (of Big B) asked us what we were doing and whether we have permission. I said it's my fundamental right to stand on the road with a banner as a response to Mr. Bacchans frivolous tweet that trees should be planted in the garden, but irony is that gardens don't make forests."

On the other hand, Bachchan’s tweet was appreciated by MMRCL (Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation) chief Ashwini Bhide as well. She wrote, "Thank u @SrBachchan ji fr depicting d importance of #Metro so succinctly. Thank you for ur support. We'r committed 2 commission entire #MumbaiMetro network incldng @MumbaiMetro3 @ d earliest r prvide faster, safer, convenient & #PollutionFree commute 2 #Mumbaikars #AareyAikaNa (sic)."
