Actor Aman Maheshwari has given it all to his acting skills; and made an impact with the popular show ‘Anupamaa," where he's becoming a household name. The actor never steps back in giving his opinion about any cause in society, and it's the month of pride, where we honour the LGBTQ communities by sharing their joy and supporting their rights, so the actor opened up his thoughts and also talked about the solutions to various narrow mindsets towards the LGBTQ community in our society.
The actor supports the LGBTQ community from beneath, and talking about the same, Aman says, "People make fun of it because a lot of people think that if there is a boy, he should behave masculine or look and behave a certain way. But a lot of people are a little bit effeminate or have some physical attributes that are not up to par, so people make fun of them. At the same time, they lack understanding of the feelings of those people because they have not been educated well, and this is a very new thing. A lot of people think it is a disease, but they must know it was there from the start; they just recognise it now."
Ask Aman his views on the problems faced by the LGBTQ community, and he also talked about the solution to those problems. He says, "The solution starts at the home itself. People should be educated, and they must be practical. Being aware of and accepting these things is the solution."
Sharing one past story of him not taking a stand for the LGBTQ community, which he regrets now, Aman shares, "In my school days, there used to be a class fellow who used to be a little effeminate. People used to make a lot of fun of him and make him feel bad. I was very indifferent to this situation. I did not take any steps; I wish I would have. I had this hesitation that if I took a stand for him, they would also consider me in a different league. But now, if it happens, I will take a step. "although people nowadays don't discriminate now."
Aman concludes his talk by sharing his views on portraying the role of homosexuality in any of his projects. He says, "For me, acting is playing a character; it's not about someone who is gay, lesbian, or of any kind of orientation. I would love to play any character that is very important for a web or a main lead. The orientation comes later; the main thing is the character. I don't have any hesitation about playing any kind of character."
