Alia Stood like a Rock for Ranbir Kapoor before Rishi Kapoor Passed Away

Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor passed away at the age of 67. Rishi was admitted to Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai after complaints of breathing problem. He left for heavenly abode on April 30, Thursday morning. 

Bollywood has truly lost one of its most precious gems today. Rishi is survived by his wife Neetu Kapoor and kids Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahani.

In 2018, Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with cancer for the first time, following which the actor was in New York for nearly a year to undergo treatment. He returned to India in September 2019 after recovering.

The veteran was shooting for ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’ in New Delhi when his health deteriorated and was later shifted to a hospital in Mumbai. Reports suggest that the actor was battling cancer relapse. 

Throughout his battle against cancer, his wife Neetu Singh was his biggest pillar of strength. Besides, his son Ranbir Kapoor along with girlfriend Alia Bhatt too stood like a rock beside him in the last few weeks. 

Alia extended a shoulder to lean on to Ranbir and was his biggest support system in the last few weeks before Rishi passed away. The Times of India quoted a source close to the couple as saying, “Ranbir is a recluse. He isn’t very expressive unless he’s with his mom or someone very close to him. With Alia he could just be himself. And she also offered him all the support to deal with his dads illness as any girlfriend would.”

Alia shares a close rapport with the Kapoor family and was around Rishi to take care of him in his difficult times. The source adds, “Alia had his blessings and that meant the world to Ranbir. Alia’s warmth, her energy and spunk cheered up Rishi. She stayed by Ranbir’s side for the last three weeks, not leaving him even for a minute.”

Meanwhile, Rishi Kapoor's last rites are taking place at the Chandanwadi crematorium in Marine Lines. Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Armaan Jain and other close family members have arrived at the funeral to pay their last respects.

Rishi Kapoor's family issued a heartfelt message that read: "Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45 am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukaemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last."

The statement added: “We would like to request all his fans and well-wishers and friends of the family to please respect the laws that are in force. He would not have it any other way.”
