A couple of years ago, there was an outrage when Akshay Kumar joined the likes of Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn as the latest ambassador of a Pan masala brand, Vimal.
This led to Kumar making a public statement about firstly how they weren't endorsing a pan masala and instead it was elaichi and apart from the fact that even then he has ended his association with the brand. A portion of his statement also mentioned how even though he has done that, the airing of these advertisements is up to the brand and while he won't be a part of it anymore, the ads shot will still appear.
Now, all the one later, a new advertisement has been airing which features the same trip in a different setting. This, led to yet another outrage among the fans as to how, in spite of his statement, this new set of ads seemingly nullified it.
And hence, when an entertainment portal went on to post the news that Kumar as 'returned' as the ambassador of Vimal Pan Masala as he features alongside Khan and Devgn, the Mission Raniganj actor was quick to respond to it.
His tweet read, "‘Returns’ as ambassador? Here’s some fact check for you Bollywood Hungama, if by chance you are interested in things other than fake news. These ads were shot on 13th October, 2021. I have not had anything to do with the brand ever since I publicly announced the discontinuation of the endorsement. They can legally run the already shot ads till the end of next month. Chill and do some real news."-

The controversy surrounding Kumar's association with the brand has been on the talking points for a while and this does put some clarity to his stance.
In the meantime, on his workfront, Kumar headlined Mission Raniganj that hasn't performed up to the mark at the box office but does have several interesting projects lined up ahead which include the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Sky Force, Welcome to the Jungle, Shankara and Singham Again among a few other unconfirmed projects.
