It’s been almost a year since Luv Ranjan, who has directed commercially successful movies like the Pyaar Ka Punchnama franchise or the recently released De De Pyaar De, had announced an upcoming project that starred Ranbir Kapoor and Ajay Devgn. Reports from various entertainment websites suggested that the director had roped in Deepika Padukone too.

But if latest reports from Pinkvilla are to be believed, the project has to take a backseat as Ajay Devgn has suddenly opted out of the Luv Ranjan directorial. As quoted by International Business Times, a report from Pinkvilla stated,

Ajay Devgn has taken his name out of the film. He opted out a few weeks ago and now, won't be starring in the movie anymore. There were a few things that all of them couldn't agree on and they thought it's better to not take the discussion ahead anymore. The film was anyway getting pushed but after AJ's exit, it seems the entire project has been derailed. Luv, on the other hand, has decided to keep this film on the back burner and concentrate on another film that he's been planning to mount on for some time now.

It was after the announcement of the movie, that Luv’s was accused of sexual misconduct during the #MeToo Movement. Deepika was mercilessly trolled for being a part of the movie directed by a #MeToo accused. A few months back, in an interview with Vogue Magazine, when Deepika was asked if she would ever work or associate herself with anyone accused of sexual misconduct, the Chhapaak actress said, “No! I would not.”

Recently during an event, The Print's Off The Cuff by Shekhar Gupta, Deepika also spoke at length about why only actors are subjected to give their opinions on the current incidents and not businessmen or cricketers.

Talking about it, the 33-year-old actress said, “Actors are brought on platforms and are expected to give our opinions on everything. Why are businessmen not asked these questions, why does someone not ask Ratan Tata what he thinks about Aarey, why are cricketers not asked about MeToo? So, sure, I don't think I'm in any kind of place to say if I would expose myself to a forum. You can ask me whatever question you want, but why subject it only to a film star?”
