Ajay Devgn & Saif starrer 'Omkara' to be remade; John and Akshay's 'Desi Boyz' to get a sequel: reports

Bollywood has seen numerous remakes over the last few years. Filmmakers are now choosing Hindi films that are under twenty years old, as compared to the prior situation where they would adapt films from other languages for Hindi audiences. On December 22, it was revealed that a remake of Vishal Bhardwaj's Omkara from 2006 would be created. Not only that, but Desi Boyz, the film starring John Abraham and Akshay Kumar, will also have a sequel.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, producer Anand Pandit announced that a remake of the 2006 film Omkara, which was adapted from Shakespeare's play Othello is on the cards. Meanwhile, Desi Boyz starring Akshay Kumar and John Abraham in the lead roles was a hit amongst the youngsters, especially for the camaraderie the two actors shared on screen.

Anand Pandit's tweet read, “Super thrilled to announce the remake of 'Omkara' & sequel of 'Desi Boyz'! Keep yourselves hooked to witness the crazy entertainment!” Trade analyst Taran Adarsh also shared the news.

Talking about this, Pandit had exclaimed that this is the ideal time to watch these two films again and introduce them to a younger audience. "These two movies, 'Omkara' and 'Desi Boyz,' each set new standards for storytelling, star power, and musical composition in their own eras. They continue to be remembered for their mastery in their respective genres.

The romantic comedy Desi Boyz was helmed by by Rohit Dhawan, the son of David Dhawan. Sanjay Dutt made an extended cameo appearance in the movie, which also starred Deepika Padukone, and Chitrangada Singh in prominent roles. Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Vivek Oberoi, and Bipasha Basu were among the leading lights in the film 'Omkara'.
