Back then, when Amazon Prime Video was in its nascent stages, it needed several shows to create a massive impact to be in competition with the streaming giant, Netflix. Now, years later, Amazon Prime is considered amongst the top two streaming powerhouses, specifically in India.

One of the catalysts for the platform, in terms of having critical acclaim, was the superhero comedy, The Tick. Upon release, the show went on to become one of the most critically acclaimed show and continued the same even in its second season. And hence, it indeed is sad to know that the show is now being pulled off the service and is canceled after two seasons.

Series creator Ben Edlund broke the news on Twitter. “I’m sorry to say Amazon has chosen not to proceed with [‘The Tick’],” Edlund wrote. “I’m not sorry to say I love this show, its cast, its story, and its message. Destiny demands that my compatriots and I now seek a new home for this series.”

Edlund is the creator of the comic book on which the show was based. Peter Serafinowicz starred as the title character, a nigh-invulnerable superhero who fights crime in The City dressed as a massive blue tick. He is assisted in his quest for justice by Arthur Everest (Griffin Newman), a normal human who uses a moth-like suit in order to serve as The Tick’s sidekick.
