After 'Ishq Subhanallah' being a massive hit, 'Katha Ankahee's' initial response disheartened me: Adnan Khan

Sony TV's show 'Katha Ankahee' has been ruling the hearts of its viewers ever since it went on air. The show is adapted from a Turkish show and stars Adnan Khan and Aditi Sharma in the lead roles. India Forums got in touch with Adnan to talk about the same and the actor poured his heart out to us. 

We asked Adnan about all the love and appreciation the show and his character Viaan has been receiving and the actor said, ''It feels great and fantastic. It is very cool actually. I did not expect this response at all. I had come from a show that was loved immensely, a show that received massive recognition. (Ishq Subhanallah) So in the beginning of Katha Ankahee, when we did not get a good response and the numbers too weren't good, I was highly disappointed. However, with time, I humbled myself. But slowly, people started showering our show with love and now a lot of people love the show. Every week I see the online TRPs, and I feel great to see the show top the TRP charts. It is a slow process. So I will say that this feeling is not overwhelming. I feel blessed. I am not a planner and I am very simple with my choices. Now, I have been a part of two shows that are hugely loved. Cannot be thankful enough.''

Adnan, who is time and again lauded for his performance in Katha Ankahee is very inclined towards direction too. When we asked him about taking up direction as a profession and about his directorial ventures, the actor said, ''I am in love with films. A lot of times, I go alone to watch films. I want to be immersed when I am watching a movie. Good films make me feel happy. I have directed, acted, written, designed the background score, styled myself for my short film, As of now, it is in the post production stage. I have finally found an editor who will match my vision. I love making my vision come true.''

Adnan has often stated how he likes being away from the limelight despite his show doing well revealed the real reason behind this and said, ''All of this requires a lot of time and energy. I'd rather use it for my work, watch a film that helps my craft, take a dance class and learn the art. I have a lot of ideas that can help me, they are god gifted. I do not know how these ideas will materialise. But I know they will. Moreover, I think it is my duty and a better choice to invest in work rather than fame. Fame is short lived. After the show ends, this fame will die. No offence to anybody else, but this is just my thought, I think it is very selfish to invest in things that bring me fame rather than things that help me better my craft. What is more important is to materialise my ideas before I die.''

We asked Adnan about his upcoming projects and what are the kind of projects that garners his interests and the actor revealed, ''Hopefully, I too will soon be seen in a music video. I know it is sounding very politically correct (giggles). And if you ask me about the kind of projects that I am interested in, it will be music videos over Reality shows. I also wish to be a part of a Korean drama or a South film someday. I am a die hard romantic, so i wish i get to be part of a good romantic film too.''
