Adnan Khan on taking up Pracchad Ashoka over a break, reveals the secret sauce behind his preps for the show

Adnan Khan, gearing up for his upcoming role in the show 'Pracchad Ashoka', engaged in an exclusive conversation with India Forums, shedding light on his anticipated stint in the series. The actor delved into the reason behind forgoing a break post 'Katha Ankahee' and shared insights on the 'fear of being out of sight and out of mind.'

Adnan, this role of yours in "Ashoka" is quite different from the characters you have done before, both your characters earlier were quite contrasting from each other. Talking about Ashoka, you seem to be fitting into the character quite well. After portraying two strong and popular characters previously, what made you choose this show?

Honestly, the reason I opted for this role is a combination of factors. Firstly, the opportunity to work with a renowned production house like Balaji and a fantastic channel like Colors was something I've always aspired to. Additionally, being a fan of the Ashoka story played a role in my decision. Witnessing Shahrukh Khan's stellar portrayal of this character also left a lasting impression on me. All these elements made it incredibly challenging for me to even consider turning down the offer.

How much time does it take for you to get into the skin of this character, and how are you maintaining this look? Could you share insights into the process?

Understanding and becoming this character is an ongoing process for me. The fantastic creative team and Ekta Mam deserve all the credit for how the character looks. They've put a lot of thought into it, and I didn't have much input in that area. As for getting into the character, I won't go into details, but I can tell you that music is a big part of how I prepare for the role.

What kind of research have you undertaken for your role in "Ashoka"?

You will be surprised if I talk about my research, but yeah, I have been researching on music and what kind of music will suit Ashoka. 

Typically, actors prefer to take a break after a long-running show, but you chose this project immediately after "Katha Ankahee." Did you opt for this to avoid the fear of being out of sight, out of mind, especially after a considerable break post "Ishq Subhanallah"?

You see, the reason I didn't take a break after Ishq Subhanallah is because I was busy working on some personal projects. It ended up taking more time than I thought – the schedule was initially planned to be shorter. But then, when I came across the storyline of this new show, it was so compelling that I couldn't resist taking it on.

The story of Ashoka has been seen by the audience before. What new elements can the audience expect this time?

This time what the audience can expect is a bigger exploration of the love track of Ashoka and princess Kaurwaki.
