Actors perform green!

Greenathon II, the second edition of NDTV and Toyota's co-sponsored energy saving plan was a huge success this year, following lead from the previous year's example when it was first launched. The mission aims at lighting up more and more villages county wide, on solar power, there by, saving energy yet providing it to many who have so far been deprived of the basic facility.

The extravaganza saw Bollywod celebrities participate actively and with great motivation in several ways.

King Khan SRK, who had sponsored powering 5 villages last year, has donated to the powering of 8 more this year. Likewise, Kareena Kapoor declared her sponsorship to the lighting of Chanderi, and Deepika Padukone adopted Ambegaon, both villages in Maharashtra. Kokkirai Lanka, a village in Dia Mirza's maiden state Andhra Pradesh was taken up by he lady.

Many like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Uday Chopra, Imraan Khan took the Greenathon pledge to promote the cause in every way. There were talks of how fuel could be saved by simple avoidance of misuse and implementation of eco-friendly means and products.

Shilpa Shetty who was seen planting a baby sapling stated that practicing what she preached was her conscious effort and her small gesture would go a long way to help regain and retain the ecological balances.

Meanwhile, Rahul Bose and Milind Soman ran the 100 Km marathon in aid of the cause. Milind admitted he had wished to do something special. Raveena Tandon was also present to flag off the 24 hours long event. All marathon participants and cheerleaders were seen sporting the black and green We mean Green t-shirts.
