Language is more than just words—it shapes our identity, preserves our culture, and carries the deepest emotions we express. On International Mother Language Day, we honor the language that connects us to our roots, holds our traditions, and gives us a sense of belonging. It’s the foundation of our heritage and a source of pride. Celebrating this special day, Abhishek Malik from Jamai No.1 shares how his mother tongue, Punjabi, is an integral part of his life.
Abhishek Malik, who plays Neel in Zee TV’s Jamai No.1, expressed his deep connection to his native language. He said, “Punjabi isn’t just a language, it’s my home, my heart, my heritage. I vividly remember listening to my grandparents' folktales in the most beautiful, rhythmic Punjabi. Their voices carried warmth and wisdom. My parents would often play Gurdaas Maan’s soulful Punjabi songs, and his lyrics made me love the language even more.”

The actor further shared how even a simple greeting in Punjabi instantly brings him comfort. “No matter where I am, hearing ‘Ki haal aa?’ or ‘Veeray’ makes me feel connected to my roots. Whenever I visit Punjab, I always take time to sit and have conversations with my elders in our language. It’s my way of keeping the tradition alive.”
For Abhishek, Punjabi is not just a means of communication but a cherished part of his identity—one that continues to inspire and ground him.
