Aamir Khan has finally put to rest the speculation around his retirement from acting, which emerged following a recent podcast. The actor, during a Zoom fan club session, addressed rumours suggesting that Mahabharata, his long-cherished passion project, would mark his final appearance in cinema. “Mahabharata is not going to be my last film,” Aamir clarified, adding, “Abhi chakkar yeh hain aap kuch bhi bolo, uska wrong meaning humesha nikal aata hai.” He explained that the original question posed to him was hypothetical—what if he found a film so creatively satisfying that he wouldn’t want to do anything after? That’s when he mentioned Mahabharata, not as a farewell, but as a powerful subject he’s emotionally attached to.
The retirement rumours began after Khan’s conversation with entrepreneur Raj Shamani, where he described Mahabharata as a layered and emotionally rich epic. “Har cheez jo duniya me hai woh aapko Mahabharat me milegi,” he had said, indicating the depth and universality of the story.
However, fans misread his passion as a hint at finality. Aamir, aware of the confusion, urged people to understand the full context before concluding. “Logon ko laga Mahabharata meri last film hai,” he added, making it clear that no such decision has been made.
While Mahabharata remains a significant dream, it won’t be Khan’s curtain call. Before he begins work on that, Aamir will be seen in Sitaare Zameen Par, directed by RS Prasanna and co-starring Genelia Deshmukh. The film is slated for release on June 20. The actor’s comments brought relief to many fans who feared he might step away from the screen. Known for choosing selective and impactful projects, Aamir’s confirmation ensures that audiences can still expect more stories from the actor in the years to come. His clarification also reflects a broader concern—how quickly public statements, especially on social media and podcasts, can spiral into unintended narratives. For now, Aamir Khan remains very much a part of Indian cinema.
