A lift too costly

In the highly competitive glamour world, even a silly mistake can cost a friendship. Who knows this better but Pritam, the reputed Bollywood music director of "Life... in a Metro".

In the highly competitive glamour world, even a silly mistake can cost a friendship. Who knows this better but Pritam, the reputed Bollywood music director of "Life… in a Metro". Pritam was previously a guitarist with Bangla band Chandrabindoo before he came to Mumbai.

Pritam has recently given the music for new film "Kaise Kahein". Chandrabindoo members are now alleging that one of the songs in the movie, "Aarzoo hai pyar ka", has been lifted from the band's hit track "Bromha Jaanen". Anindo Chatterjee, the lead vocalist and lyricist of Chandrabindoo, feels bad about the turn of events. "It's good to know that our music has the potential to do well in Hindi songs, but some recognition should also be given to the original piece from where it is taken."

What hurts the band members even more is that they are still friends with Pritam. "There should have been some discussion with us in this matter. A fan from Bhopal sent a link of the film song to Upal (another vocalist and lyricist of the band). The similarity was obvious."

Whenever the band does shows in Mumbai the members make sure they meet up with Pritam. Anindo says Pritam now keeps calling them up to clear his name. The music director claims the composition is Imran Ali's and he had nothing to do with it.

Logically, the explanation doesn't make much sense. But the band is hesitating to take drastic action for friendship's sake. Only the concerned music company can take legal action now.

In the bid to gain fame, it seems like Pritam is on the verge of losing some of his most genuine friends.
