A comparison Between Hindi Daily Soaps and Regional shows!

Regional shows have a limited reach and the main reason for this is the language barriers across the regions of India. Now that regional shows are available online, with subtitles and even dubs, we decided to pick on a few things that regional shows do much better when compared to daily soaps.

For this comparison, we picked up Kawach... Kaali Shaktiyon Se and a Marathi show called Ratris Khel Chale(strange games are played at night). Both of these shows are paranormal based. Kawach is the story of a girl who is trying to get rid of a spirit that has latched on to her to be husband. What sounds like a very interesting story is picturised very badly! Like even a kid wouldn't be scared after watching Kawach! It is actually a joke that people call it a horror show!

On the other hand, Ratris Khel Chale is a show that gives even mature adults goosebumps! The story is based around the Naik family that lives in the interiors of Maharashtra. The leader of the family, Anna, passes away and now the Naik property is to be distributed between three brothers and a 'Najayas' sister. The sister's mother had committed suicide right outside the family house after she was denied to step into the house by Anna's wife, and the entire show revolves around that. There is a lot of politics in the show regarding property issues and the brothers don't want to give their sister a rupee out of the lot. 

Strange things accompanied by strange voices haunt the family members. With a hint of black magic and cultural practices, the show becomes more enticing. Murders, assassination attempts, and paranormal activities, all take place in the Naik 'Vada'!

Kawach currently focusses on the lead faces and gives them most of the screentime. The show fails to create even the slightest amount of fear in the watcher's mind. After a few weeks, the show's TRP has been constantly dropping. The worst part about this show is that it is glorified and praised! The makers simply fail to capture the essence of the show that is possession! If a new watcher sees even a single episode of the show, he wouldn't want to see the forthcoming ones!

Ratris Khel Chale is shot on a considerably low budget but is still a lot better!. There are almost 15 individual characters who share the screentime and all of them are equally powerful characters! There are some episodes of the show that you can't simply watch alone! One episode is all it takes to get hooked on to the show. It has been almost 6 months since the show has been on-air (and it airs from Monday to Friday!) and they haven't shown a single ghost or an apparition! Yet they manage to scare the lot!.

This is just one example of how Regional shows are providing much better content and are definitely worth a watch!
