Jhund : Does Not Flatter Only Disappoints.

24 March 2022

Nagraj Manjule is Jhund's weakest link. Movie, based on Vijay Barse's life has been written and directed by Manjule. But the problem is that, instead of making a biopic Manjule has tried to turn it into a social commentary which is completely ok but he has not been very successful at that. First half of the film is really good. Manjule brings out the stark reality of Slums and lives of the children and teenagers living there unlike some films released prior to Jhund which try to glamourize Kamathipura.

Whatever Manjule earns in the first half he destroys it completely in the second half. Post interval the film loses plot and the tracks that are given prominence in this half look like a patchwork, as if they do not belong to the film. The film goes so far down the Bollywood lane in the second half that the track between Bhavna and ankush becomes laughable. Monica's track is also unnecessary.

Music is the plus point of Jhund. All tracks do justice to Ajay-Atul's reputation.

On the acting front, Mr.Bachchan is fantastic as usual, never seen a bad performance from him.

Other actors have put in good performance too.

But the film's highlight performance is that of Ankush Gedam, without him the film would have just fallen apart.
